Modi bats for system sans discrimination

New Delhi, Jan 20:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted his government is making a ‘system’ where there will be no place for discrimination and it will firmly stand on the foundation of equality.

The prime minister’s assertion came on the back of allegation made by several political leaders who left the BJP in Uttar Pradesh claiming none in the government paid heed to the backward classes and Dalits in the state in the past five years.

“We are creating a system in which there is no place for discrimination, a society which stands firmly on the foundation of equality and social justice. We are witnessing the emergence of an India whose thinking and approach are ‘innovative’, while decisions are progressive,” Modi said after remotely flagging off several campaigns of ‘Brahma Kumaris’ dedicated to ‘Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav’.

Expressing his gratitude to the spiritual movement founded by Lekhraj Kripalani in the 1930s for continuing their support in the progress of the country, the PM said, “This programme is an inspiration for the country.”

“In the 75 years of Independence, we have to admit that an evil has engulfed everyone. This evil is deviating you from your duties. I appeal Brahma Kumaris and similar other organisations to instill the feeling of duties among the citizens of the country,” he said.

Talking about ‘Amrit Kaal’, the PM said, “This is not the time for dreaming while sleeping, but for fulfilling resolutions by waking up. We have to get back what our society has lost in hundreds of years of slavery.”

The PM also highlighted ‘natural farming’ and ‘clean energy’.

“To make farmers aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) , we are working on promoting organic farming. Brahma Kumaris can play an important role in this direction,” Modi said.

Citing the citizens have been witnessing how various efforts are being made to tarnish the image of India at the international level, Modi said, “We cannot get away saying it is just politics. This is not politics, it is the question of our country. We are celebrating the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and it is our responsibility that the world should know India properly.’

Organisation such as ‘Brahma Kumaris’ which is spread worldwide should convey the right things about India and make people aware, he said.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Gujarat, Ashok Gehlot and Bhupendra Patel, Union Ministers and other dignitaries also attended the programme.
