Four die due to drinking poisonous liquor

Mandi, Jan 19:  Four people died in suspicious circumstances after consuming poisonous liquor in village Slapad of Sundernagar in Mandi district.

According to the information received, the family members alleged that they have died due to the consumption of poisonous liquor. Police said that food items those people consumed along with the liquor is also being investigated. The police have seized the bodies.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ashish Sharma said that the cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report. Preliminary investigation revealed the liquor that was being sold in the Salapar area was stolen from Chandigarh. The deceased had consumed this liquor.

Among those killed is the brother of Satish Thakur, former president of Panchayat Samiti, Sundernagar. The three bodies have been identified as Sudesh Kumar, Lal Singh and Chetram.

Police have started investigation by taking the bodies into custody.
