JK Police recovers abducted girl within hours, accused arrested

Srinagar, Jan 11 : Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have recovered an abducted girl within hours and arrested the accused person involved in commission of crime, police said.


Police Station Awantipora received a written complaint on January 1 wherein the complainant stated that his daughter has been kidnapped by one Sanju Singh son of Rai Singh a resident of Pundail Gurdaspur Punjab.
A case was registered in this regard and investigations started. During the course of investigation, a police party with the assistance of a technical team tracked down the location of the accused person in Banihal area on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
A police team was dispatched to Banihal who rescued the abducted girl from one Sheer Bebi Banihal who was also arrested. The case was resolved and the accused person involved in the commission of crime was arrested within 5 hours, police said.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
