Sensex up over 300 points

Mumbai, Jan 7: The BSE Sensex on Friday gained 303 points to move up to 59,905.82 in the opening session as buying was seen in Materials, Energy and FMCG stocks.

The Nifty too rose 98.80 points to 17,844.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 60,130.18 and 59,727.25 points respectively.

The Nifty registered the days high and low at 17,905 and 17,787.70 points respectively.

The Mid Cap was up 0.68 per cent and Small Cap by 0.48 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined.

The gainers were Asian Paints by 1.82 per cent to Rs 3577.75, ICICI Bank by 1.39 per cent to Rs 796, Wipro by 1.34 per cent to Rs 715.80, Tech Mahindra by 1.32 per cent to Rs 1713.95 and Kotak Bank by 1.29 per cent to Rs 1916.45.

The losers were Bajaj Finserv by 1.27 per cent to Rs 17,758, Bajaj finance by 1.27 per cent to Rs 7641, HDFC by 1.05 per cent to Rs 7641 and L& T by 0.90 per cent to Rs 1907.90.
