Covid and Omicron cases rise in India

New Delhi Jan 7:India reported 1,17,100 fresh Covid-19 cases and 302 related deaths, taking the total tally to 4,83,178, the Heath Ministry informed on Friday.

The active caseload in the country reached 3,71,363, while 30,836 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovered cases to 3,43,71,845 in the country.

Meanwhile, the Omicron tally in the country reached 3007 with Maharashtra (876) topping the count, followed by Delhi (465), Rajasthan (291) and Kerala (284).

Out of the total Omicron cases reported so far, 1,199 have recovered or migrated.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Thursday so far 68.68 Crore tests for Covid-19 have been donein the country.

India has administered 148.67 cr doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.

More than 154.32 crores vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far. Over 18.14 crores balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said
