DC Srinagar visits Shrines/ Temples identified for Restoration/ Revival of Architecture, Heritage

SRINAGAR DECEMBER 05:- The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Wednesday undertook an extensive visit of various City areas to assess the spot position of identified Religious places/Assets for Restoration, Revival, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage in Srinagar district.

The DC accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Syed Hanief Balkhi visited Ziyarat of Hazrat Sheikh Dawood RA, Batamaloo, Ram Mandir, Safakadal, Shrine of Syed Mohammad Hussain Mazandarani, Khankahi Sokhta, Mangleshwar Bhairav Asthapan, Brari Nambal, Babademb and Ganpatyar Temple in Habba Kadal.

While inspecting the drawings and details of works to be executed for renovation and development of Ziyarat Hazrat Sheikh Dawood RA, Batamaloo, the DC was informed that a DPR of Rs 91.33 lakh has been prepared for carrying various renovation works including construction of Pedestals, Ornamental Vertical posts, Conopy in the premises of the Shrine, Khatamband Ceiling, Window shutters and Calligraphic walnut wooden plates at the Shrine.

The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure all works in the DPR are carried out with visible impact while maintaining Architecture and Heritage of the Kashmir Valley. He further asked them to incorporate all necessary repairs and face lifting works in the project to give an aesthetic look to the Shrine.

At Ram Mandir, Safa Kadal, the DC was informed that a project of Rs 1.53 crore has been prepared for under taking different works for development and restoration of the Mandir including cleaning of grass and removal of debris, Mahraji brick works, Stone masonry work with lime matar, Painting and lime Surkhi plaster, replacement of Tin roof and Devri path outside the Temple with plinth protection.

Similarly, the DC also visited Mangleshwar Bhairav Asthapan, Brari Nambal, Babademb, and Ganpatyar Temple, Habba Kadal and reviewed the DPRs finalized for the development and renovation of the Temples.

The DC was informed that Mangleshwar Bhairav Asthapan, Brari Nambal, Babademb is being renovated and developed at an estimated cost of Rs 71.25 lakh and works including reconstruction of Temple with foundation of Devri stone and Super structure of Mahraji bricks, cleaning of grass and removal of debris, Ornamental type wooden vertical posts, Devri floor inside the Temple and approach path and Khatamband ceiling in the Temple. While Rs 44.58 lakh have been earmarked for renovation and development of Ganpatyar Temple.

At both the Temples, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure all works are carried to give a fascinating look together with preserving the rich art, culture and heritage of Kashmir.

The DC also visited the Shrine of Syed Mohammad Hussain Mazandarani, Khankahi Sokhta which has been identified under five sites in Srinagar District to be developed and renovated on heritage pattern at an estimated cost of Rs 21.91 lakh.

The DC was apprised about the works to be taken up under the project for the renovation of the Shrine.

Chief Planning Officer, Deputy Director, Archives & Archaeology, Executive Engineer Tourism Department, Tehsildars of Eidgah and Khanyar and other Officers of concerned departments accompanied the DC during the visit.
