Three militants killed in overnight Sgr encounter: Police

One slain identified as Suhail Ahmed Rather, other two seem to be foreigners: IGP Kashmir, says Suhail was involved in Zewan attack

Srinagar, Dec 31 : Three militants including a local militant were killed in an overnight encounter at Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said Friday.

“Acting on a specific lead about the presence of militants in Pantha Chowk area, police along with CRPF laid a siege and in the ensuing encounter, three militants were killed. Three policemen and a CRPF personnel were injured and they are all stable,” Kumar told a press conference at PCR as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said that one of the slain militant was identified as a local militant Suhail Ahmed Rather of Jaish-e-Muhammad who was involved in Zewan,Srinagar attack.

 

The IGP said that identity of other two slain is being ascertained. “It seems the two slain are foreigners as no family or claim has come forward,” the IGP said.
