Sensex jumps over 400 points

Mumbai, Dec 31 : The BSE Sensex on Friday surged 410.96 points to 58,205.28 as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty too rose by 134.40 points to 17,338.20.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 58,304.82 and 57,846.52 points respectively.

The Nifty registered the days high and low at 17,359.10 and 17,238.50 points respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up 0.66 per cent and Small Cap by 0.79 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 25 advanced while 5 declined.

The gainers were Titan by 3.42 per cent to Rs 2519.90, Kotak Bank by 2 per cent to Rs 1790, Axis Bank by 1.91 per cent to Rs 681.75, Maruti Suzuki by 1.69 per cent to Rs 7407.70 and Bharti Airtel by 1.53 per cent to Rs 690.

The losers were NTPC by 2.09 per cent to Rs 124.25, Powergrid by 0.27 per cent to Rs 204.80, Infosys by 0.25 per cent to Rs 1888 and Wipro by 0.25 per cent to Rs 712.35.
