India’s Omicron tally mounts to 415

New Delhi, Dec 25: As many as 57 people tested positive for the new variant of Covid-19 Omicron during the past 24 hours in the country, taking the caseload to 415.

Out of the 415 cases reported so far, Maharashtra reported the maximum at 108, followed by Delhi 79 and Gujarat 43, the Ministry data showed.

Telangana reported 38, Kerala 37, Tamil Nadu 34, Karnataka 31, Rajasthan 22, four each from Odisha, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, three each from Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal, two from UP, and one each from Chandigarh, Ladakh and Uttarakhand

Of these, 115 people were discharged following their recovery from the virus.

Meanwhile, the total Covid-19 caseload in the country rose to 3,47,79,815 with detection of 7,189 new cases in the last 24 hours, while 387 deaths pushed the fatalities toll to 4,79,520.

The recoveries tally rose to 3,42,23,263 as 7,286 recupercated from the disease in the last 24 hours. Active cases stood at 77,032.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Saturday, 67.10 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

India has administered 141.01 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
