BSF shoots down Chinese-made Pakistan drone

Ferozepur (Punjab), Dec 18 : The Border Security Force (BSF) has shot down a Chinese-made Pakistani drone in Ferozepur sector of the International Border in Punjab, the paramilitary force said on Saturday.

The drone, apparently on a recce mission, was at a distance of 300 meters from the border inside Indian territory when it was intercepted before midnight on Friday.

“Once again anti-national element activity has been foiled,” a BSF officer said. A search operation is underway near the India-Pakistan border.

The drone was spotted despite a thick fog. It was hit by troopers posted at the Wan border post at Amarkot.

Given the possibility of a weapon or drug drop in the backdrop of low visibility, the BSF is searching “every inch of the border region”, another official said.

Informed sources said the drone model seems to be similar to the one downed in Kathua some days back.
