Over 350 specially- abled persons get prosthetic aid in Budgam, Khansahab blocks

BUDGAM, DECEMBER 17: As many as 350 specially-abled persons were registered on spot today to get prosthetic aid during a health camp held at Tehsil Social Welfare Office, Budgam.

The program was organized by District Social Welfare Office Budgam for the specially-abled persons from Budgam and Khansahab tehsils, where hundreds of them were examined by the doctors. It is pertinent to mention here that the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO), A Government Agency also participated in the health camp.

District Social Welfare Officer, Budgam, Dr Farhana who was chief guest on the occasion said that these camps in being organized under Good Governance outreach programme under which  the prosthetic aid like artificial limbs, orthotic aids , wheelchairs, tricycles, cp chair, smart phones , Brazil kid for visually impaired, hearing aids, clutches , walking sticks, motorized tricycles etc will be distributed among the beneficiaries.

She said that the camp has been held in other tehsils of the district also to reach specially-abled persons at their doorsteps across the district to address their genuine grievances and provide them requisite aid and equipment they require to lead a normal life.

She said these specially-abled persons are talented and have been contributing to the society at large like others. This activity was taken up with combined efforts of District Social Welfare Officer Budgam, District Administration and Rural Development Department who had done grass root level survey of these physically challenged individuals throughout the district

She further added that the Government has initiated various schemes and programmes for their welfare.

On the occasion, Dr Anil Kumar and Dr. Kapil Nishad from ALIMCO examined scores of patients and briefed them about various schemes and welfare programs for their treatment.
