GDC Kishtwar organises awareness program on Health and Safe Food

KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 17: Guidance and Career Counseling cell Government Degree College Kishtwar today organized an awareness program on Health and Safe Food under the patronage of Principal, Prof. Anirudh Sharma.

The programme began with the welcome address by Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Wani which was followed by presentation of mementos  to Chief Guest College Principal and special guest of the event, Food Safety Officer Kishtwar,  Sajad Hussain Gagroo.

Convener of the program, Prof. M. M. Mattoo, delivered the introductory speech in which he deliberated about the relationship of good health and safe food. He also shared a story to inspire students about the importance of healthy life.

Food safety Officer Sajjad Hussain Gagroo, deliberated in detail on safe food and various parameters of a safe food.

He highlighted issues related to misbranded items, sub standard items, and Unsafe items. He discussed the Prevention of Food Adulterations Act (PFA) and  Food Safety Act (FSA). He further informed that the Food Safety Department has launched “Eat Right challenge” to inform distributors and consumers about safe and healthy food and the provisions of Food safety and Standards Act (FSSA) 2006.

In the Question and Answer session, the faculty members and students of the college interacted with the FSO Kishtwar.

In his concluding remarks, Principal GDC Kishtwar appreciated the organising committee for this program and acknowledged the active participation of students.

Prof. Sharma shared his views on the increased production and consumption of organic foods. He also stressed on holding more such programs for mass awareness and Food Safety. The program culminated with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Athar Hussain Gundna.
