India logs 8,439 new COVID cases, 195 deaths

New Delhi, Dec 8 : India recorded 8,439 new Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,46,56,822, while the death toll rose to 4,73,952 as 195 succumbed to the virus.

On the other hand, 9,525 more people have recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,40, 89,137.

The recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent, highest since March last year.

The active caseload now stands at 93,733 less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, 65.06 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

India has administered 129.54 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
