India logs 6,822 new COVID cases, 220 deaths

New Delhi, Dec 7: India recorded 6,822 new Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, the lowest in 558 days, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

As per the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,46,48,383, while the death toll increased to 4,73,757 as 220 more people succumbed to the virus.

On a positive front, 10,004 more people have recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,40,79,612.

Currently, the recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent. The active caseload now stands at 95,014, less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed.

According to the bulletin, 64.94 crore tests for Covid-19 have been carried out so far. India has administered 128.76 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
