World Disability Day observed at CRC, Bemina

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 04: The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, MSJ&E, Government of India, Bemina, Srinagar, J&K organized a function to observe World Disability Day at CRC premises in a creative way.

In the run up to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a series of programmes, rehabilitation/ distribution camps starting from 29th Nov. to 3rd Dec. 2021in the interest of persons with disabilities keeping in view the theme of this year ‘Leadership & Participation of Persons with Disabilities towards an Inclusive, Accessible and Sustainable Post COVID – 19 World’ were organised.

Subsequently on 29th November, registration of beneficiaries and their enrollment for UDID Card generation was held. On 30th November, a webinar was conducted on the topic ‘Eradication of Social & Environmental Barriers’ under the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.

Similarly, on 1st December an Awareness cum Orientation programme on ‘Rehabilitation Management of Persons with Disabilities and post COVID-19 situation’ was held at  CRC Campus where orientation/ awareness were imparted to the target group viz. Para-medics, ASHA workers etc.

An Assessment/ Screening camp was conducted  by the CRC professional team on 2nd December where on the spot Aids & Appliances were distributed among the needy beneficiaries and also a capacity building training programme was conducted for the staff, professionals and students in collaboration with Department of Disaster Management in which experts from Disaster Management  Department Srinagar J&K imparted basic training to the target group for the safety and  security of public in general & Divyangjan’s in particular.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director CRC, Dr. Zafar Iqbal highlighted the need of conducting such programmes as well as observing International Day for Persons with Disabilities every year and focused the steps ahead needed to be taken in a positive way for the betterment and welfare of Persons with Disabilities.

Cultural, awareness and educational programmes were organized by the students of CRC highlighting the social issues, awareness etc in the interest of Persons with Disabilities during the culminating event.
