MD NHM reviews TB Elimination Action Plan for J&K

Asks officers to redouble efforts towards achieving Elimination of TB in UT by 2025

Srinagar, DEC 3: Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, Yasin M Choudhary, today reviewed preparedness for Tuberculosis Elimination Action Plan for Jammu and Kashmir.

Mission Director asked the officers and officials to redouble their efforts towards achieving all set targets as per National Strategic Plan (NSP) 2017-2025 for Elimination of Tuberculosis from the UT by 2025.

Pertinently, during the recent UT level review of National TB Elimination Programme by the Lieutenant Governor emphasis was laid on preparation of detailed action plan (micro level) from block to UT level besides conducting TB testing, notification of TB cases and disbursement of DBT under Nikshy Poshan Yojana and holding detailed reviews twice in a month along with COVID assessment.

MD, while discussing action plan for TB Elimination in the UT, exhorted upon the concerned officers to ensure implementation of decisions taken in the review meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor.

He directed the officers and officials associated with TB control programme to launch a massive door to door awareness campaign regarding Tuberculosis simultaneously with the ongoing Har Ghar Dastak campaign being carried out for COVID vaccination and distribution of Ayushman Bharat Golden Card. He also asked for involving panchayats, youth clubs and schools in the campaign of conducting household surveys for Tuberculosis.

After detailed deliberations, it was decided to utilize the services of ASHAs and ANMs under the supervision of MLHPs for conducting house to house surveys. Besides, District Tuberculosis Officers were asked to ensure availability of testing facilities.

Mission Director directed the officers of health department to conduct meetings with all DACs, BACs and Block Medical Officers for carrying out hands-on training of ASHAs and ANMs for conducting door to door survey of TB patients.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Renu Sharma, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director Health Service, Kashmir, STO Jammu and Kashmir, District Tuberculosis Officers Jammu and Kashmir besides other senior officers of National Health Mission and Directorate of Health Services, J&K.
