India records 9,216 new COVID cases, 391 deaths

New Delhi, Dec 3 : A total of 9,216 people have tested positive for COVID-19 during the past 24 hours across the country, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,45,25,757 while the death toll rose to 4,70,115 as 391 more people succumbed to the virus.

On the other hand, 8,612 more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,40,45,666.The recovery rate currently stands at 98.35 per cent, highest since March last year.

The cumulative active caseload now stands at 99,976 less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed. As per the bulletin, 64.46 crore tests for COVID-19 have been carried out so far.

Meanwhile, India has administered 125.75 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
