Tripura Violence: SC agrees to hear Trinamool's plea on Tuesday

New Delhi, Nov 22 : The Supreme Court on Monday said that it will hear the All India Trinamool Congress’s plea on Tuesday.

Trinamool Congress has filed a writ petition seeking to protect its workers from violence in Tripura and order proper security to the state government.

Justice DY The petitioner Trinamool Congress, before a bench headed by Chandrachud, had urged for speedy hearing of the matter under ‘Special Mention’.

The petitioner alleges that the municipal elections in Tripura are to be held on November 25. The activists who are campaigning in this connection are being tortured for political reasons and they are being implicated in false cases.

Justice Chandrachud, during the special mention, initially said that the bench would hear the matter on November 25, but the counsel for the petitioner again pleaded that the situation of violence in the state is becoming more serious, hence the matter will be heard from November 25.

After that considering the petition of the petitioner again, the top court directed to list it for hearing on Tuesday.
