Won’t allow Kashmir to turn into graveyard: PAGD

Demands time-bound credible inquiry, those involved in Hyderpora incident must face the law

Srinagar, Nov 18 : People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Thursday said that they are not concerned about the elections, but want to safeguard the lives of the people, saying that they “won’t allow Kashmir to turn into a graveyard.”

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), addressing media persons after holding meeting in Srinagar, PAGD spokesman, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that they held threadbare discussion on Hydeprora gunfight and demand time bound judicial probe into the incident.

He said that those involved in the incident should be dealt with as per the law. “We believe those involved irrespective of their position are law violators and deserve punishment.”

“Ironically, burial is not being allowed citing several issues including Covid, security reasons and others, which is against the constitution. We had decided to meet the victim families under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and informed police about it, but were not allowed,” he said.

Tarigami, who is also a former Kulgam legislator, said that it is not the time to do politics, but a period for grief and sorrow. “Everybody is mourning the deaths that took place in Hyderpora. In case the incidents don’t stop and bodies are not returned, we will knock every door to raise our voice. Members of Parliament will also raise the issues in the parliament,” he said.

“Whole Kashmir understands the situation and we will raise the voice in unison and won’t allow Kashmir to turn into the graveyard,” he added and demanded credible enquiry into the Hyderpora incident.

“We are not here to discuss the political process. We are not begging the government to hold elections. Let them not. We want to safeguard the lives of our people. That is our concern. We appeal to the people of Jammu as well that we are together to save the lives, constitution, institution, which should guarantee the security of the common man,” he said—(KNO)
