India’s active Covid cases decline to lowest in 17 months

New Delhi Nov 17 : India’s active Covid-19 cases have declined to 1,28,555, the lowest in 527 days (17 months), and presently constitutes 0.37 per cent of total 34,456,401 cases, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data on Wednesday.

The active cases fell to its lowest since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours the country reported 10,197 fresh infections, when 301 deaths were also recorded taking the toll to 4,64,153, as per the Ministry.

The recovery rate touched 98. 28 per cent as 12,134 patients recovered from the virus in the past one day taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,38,73,890.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.82 per cent, remaining less than 2 per cent for the last 44 days. The weekly positivity rate is 0.96 per cent and it also remains below 2 per cent for the 54th day, the Ministry said.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 62.70 crore tests.

With the administration of 67,82 042 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid vaccination coverage has exceeded 113.68 crore, the Ministry said.

“More than 127 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/UTs so far through direct state procurement category. Over 20.91cr balance and unutilized vaccine doses are still available with them,” said the Ministry.
