Delhi Air pollution: ‘Work from home’ could be possible, says Centre

New Delhi, Nov 17:The Central Government has, in its affidavit, filed before the Supreme Court, said it had considered the possibility of functioning under online mode i.e. “work from home,” in connection with the pollution case hearing.

In this regard, it is submitted by the Centre, in its affidavit, that in the recent past, several governmental functions were impacted due to Covid-19 pandemic for substantially a long period of time which entailed pan India ramifications.

The Central Government also considered the number of vehicles used for its business in NCR and it found that the said number was not very significant, the Centre said in its affidavit filed before the Supreme Court.

Thereby the Centre decided that in view of the recent normalization of functioning of Central Government offices post Covid -19 pandemic, the advantage of not passing work from home direction would outweigh the advantages which would be gained from work from home directions which would be limited to only less number of Central Government vehicles on road, instead, the UOI’s affidavit said.

The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India has issued an advisory for Central government officers and staff for pooling and sharing of vehicles to the maximum extent possible, so that number of Central Government vehicles plying for commuting of officers and staff are reduced substantially, the UOI’s affidavit filed before the Supreme Court said.

The hearing will take place shortly before the Supreme Court
