Large cache of drugs, arms & ammunition drone dropped in Tarn Taran

Amritsar/Jalandhar, Oct 20 (UNI) A joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Special Operation Cell of Punjab police on Wednesday seized a large cache of arms and ammunition from Tarn Taran area as a drone reportedly dropped drugs consignments in the Khemkaran sector.

A spokesperson of the Special Operation Cell said the consignment believed to be dropped from a drone include 22 pistols, 44 magazines, 100 cartridges of 7.63mm calibre.

Apart from the arms and ammunition, a packet of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing one kilogram and another packet of opium was also recovered from the area during the search conducted early morning.

The consignment of arms and ammunition and drugs was found placed in a bag which was recovered from the area in between BoP Uttar and T-Bund point ahead of Border Security Fencing.

The search operation was carried out after the Special Operation Cell received an input from its sources that a large consignment of arms and ammunition was being sent into the Punjab territory using “drones to create terror in the state”.
