Dr Samoon visits ITI Kishtwar; Inaugurates IT laboratory, 100 KVA substation

KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 18: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, who was on a day long visit to Kishtwar district, today inspected functioning of ITI Kishtwar besides assessing progress on construction of Polytechnic college building in the district.

Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ashok Kumar, Joint Director, Skill Development Jammu, Farooq Ahmed Khan, DGM JKPCC, Raman Sahini, Principal Polytechnic College, H.A. Bhardwaj, Principal ITI, Imran Wajahat and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

During his visit to ITI Kishtwar, Dr Samoon inspected the functioning of the institute and took stock of infrastructural facilities available there for the students.

Meanwhile, he inaugurated Information Technology (IT) laboratory and 100 KVA substation and server stabilizer in the institute.

Applauding the efforts of ITI Kishtwar in effective implementation of skill development initiatives of the government, Dr Samoon said that Kishtwar has huge employment opportunities due to several rolled out hydro electric power projects in the district. He added that it is the need of the hour to harness the skill and talent of the local youths in right direction for availing this opportunity.

Dr Samoon also enquired about the admission process for the current session 2021-22 in respect of ITI Kishtwar and stressed for increasing the admission capacity based upon high demand of skill development in the district.

During his inspection, Dr. Samoon also interacted with the students and staff members and listened to their issues and concerns assuring them an early redressal to the same.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary felicitated the meritorious students.

Later, Dr Samoon visited the construction site of Polytechnic College Kishtwar to inspect the ongoing works on the building.

DGM JKPCC informed the Principal Secretary that out of the 3 blocks, which have been undertaken by JKPCC with a total estimated cost of Rs. 19.12 crore, an amount of Rs. 4.90 crore has been utilised so far. He further informed that 50 percent work on the Polytechnic workshop has been completed.

On the occasion, Principal Secretary asked the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work so that the three  blocks will be completed in a time frame manner.
