DC Kulgam reviews winter preparedness

KULGAM, OCTOBER 18: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements put in place in the district for approaching winters.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of snow clearance machines, stock position, action plans prepared by the concerned departments framed to prevent interruption to services during this winter season.

Dr Bilal impressed upon the officers to remain available at headquarters for prompt response to the public grievances and for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations and to ensure smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies to avoid any inconvenience to people.

The concerned officers from the Mechanical Engineering Department briefed the DC about the action plan and availability of snow clearance machines in the district.

The DC directed for ensuring that snow clearance machines are positioned at all critical spots and that these are pressed into service as soon as snow starts to accumulate, prioritizing roads leading to all important installations across the district including Hospitals and other essential institutions.

He also directed Executive Engineer PDD to create a transformer bank at Sub Division D.H.Pora. The AD- FCS&CA was directed to complete the dumping process of ration within 10 days.

Tehsildars were directed to ensure stocking of LPG cylinders in their respective jurisdictions.

The DC sought inter-departmental coordination for effective response for any eventuality in the approaching winter season and exhorted that the reaction time should be prompt and the snow clearance plan should be effectively implemented.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, ADC, SDM-Noorabad, ACD, DSP-DAR, Executive Engineers from PDD and Jal Shakti, CMO, Tehsildars  and other Officers.
