Massive boost to PC in Central Kashmir,Hilal Rather to join party today

Srinagar, Oct 16: In a massive boost to Peoples Conference, son of former Finance Minister Abdur Rahim Rather is joining the party on Saturday.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Hilal Ahmad Rather is likely to join PC today in presence of its chairman Sajad Gani Lone and other senior leaders.

The move marks the entry of PC in district Budgam, which has already made its presence felt in Srinagar district.

“We have now become a formidable force in central Kashmir. We have many leaders in Srinagar and Budgam who are capable to win seats,” a senior PC leader, wishing anonymity said.

He said that many bigwigs would join the party in next 15-20 days from central and south Kashmir.

Hilal, an alumni of BITS Pilani, is not novice to politics and has been consistently working with his father in the constituency.

With political equations changing in J&K, the next assembly election is likely to witness a direct contest between NC and PC in Kashmir.

In North Kashmir, which is considered a stronghold of the PC, many top leaders have returned to the party after three decades—(KNO)
