Covaxin gets DCGI's nod for use among kids above 2 years

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin secured approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Tuesday for use on children above 2 years of age in a major boost to the country’s fight against the pandemic.

Covaxin will be the first Covid-19 vaccine in the country to be administered to those below 18 years of age.

The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) for Covid-19 drugs under Central Drugs Control Standard Organisation (CDSCO) earlier recommended the Covaxin in two-dose regimen to be given at a gap of 28 days as primer and booster shots, sources told UNI.
