EC announces bypolls 3 LS seats, 30 Assembly constituencies

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday announced that bypolls for three Lok Sabha seats and 30 Assembly constituencies will be held on October 30.

As per a communique issued by the poll panel, by elections will be held for three Lok Sabha seats- one each in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

A total of 30 Assembly constituencies in 14 states will go to polls. Out of the 30, five in Assam, four in West Bengal, three each in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya, two each in Bihar, Karnataka and Rajasthan, one each in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Nagaland and Telangana.

“The notification for the bypolls will be issued on October 1. The last date of filing nomination papers is on October 8,” the Election Commission said in a statement.

Counting of votes will be held on November 2.

The poll panel has directed the concerned state governments to strictly follow the Covid-19 guidelines during the by-elections.
