Cyclonic storm 'Gulab' weakens into a deep depression : IMD

Hyderabad, Sep 27 (UNI) The Cyclonic Storm ‘Gulab’ (pronounced as Gul-Aab) over North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha moved westwards with a speed of 14 kmph during the last 6 hours on Monday and weakened into a Deep Depression and lay centered at 0230 hrs over North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha near Latitude. 18.4°North and Longitude. 83.0°East, about 220 km west-southwest of Gopalpur (Odisha), 130 km east-southeast of Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) and 120 km west of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh).

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin early this morning said It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken further into a Depression during the next 6 hours.

It said light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy & extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Telangana today.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Warning Centre, Visakhapatnam said Strong wind (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely along and off over North coastal Andhra Pradesh on September 27.

It said fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea along and off Andhra Pradesh & Yanam coasts on Monday.

Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad forecast from 0830 hours this morning to 0830 hours tomorrow is that Heavy to very Heavy rain with Extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Kamareddy districts and Heavy to very Heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal (Urban), Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Siddipet, Sangareddy and Medak districts and Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Khammam, Suryapet, Vikarabad districts of Telangana.

Thunderstorm accompanied with Lightning with wind speed 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places in many districts of the state.

Generally cloudy sky. Light to Moderate Rain/Thundershowers at times heavy rain is very likely to occur in the city.
