India reports 26,964 new Covid-19 cases, active cases lowest in 186 days

New Delhi, Sep 22 : India has reported 26,964 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,35,31,498 whereas 383 more people died due to the Covid-19 making the death toll climb to 4,45,768 according to the data.

The daily positivity rate of the infection was recorded at 1.69 per cent in the country while the active cases have remained under 3 lakh after declining by 8,606 cases, as per the Health Ministry’s bulletin.

The cumulative active caseload now stands at 3,01,989, a 0.9 per cent share of the total Covid-19 cases, the figures showed. According to the Ministry, the current percentage of active cases is lowest since March 2020.

Meanwhile, 34,167 more people recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,27,83,741 As per the data, the recovery rate stands at 97.77 per cent.

A total of 55,67,54,282 Covid-19 samples were tested up to September 21. Of these, 15,92,395 samples were tested on Monday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Meanwhile, India has administered 82,65,15,754 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
