Covid-19: India records 26,115 new cases, 252 deaths; Active cases lowest in 184 days

New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) India added 26,115 new cases of Covid-19 infection taking the total tally to 3,35,04,534, while the active cases declined to 3,09,575, the lowest in 184 days, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The death toll climbed to 4,45,385 with 252 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The share of active cases now stands at 0.9 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the figures showed.

The active cases tally is lowest in the last 6 months, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, 34,469 more people recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,27,49,574. As per the data, the recovery rate stands at 97.75 percent. the Union Ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (1.85 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 88 days now.

A total of 55,50,35,717 samples were tested up to September 20, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 14,13,951 samples were tested on Monday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 81.85 crore “More than 96 lakhs (96,46,778) vaccine doses have been administered on Monday making the country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage reach a cumulative figure of 81,85,13,827 as per provisional reports,” the ministry said.
