‘Nation wants to know’ types should apologise to Tharoor, Omar on his acquittal

Srinagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Asserting that guilt and innocence are established in a court of law not in a kangaroo court during prime time, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said that if any of those self appointed ‘nation wants to know’ types had half a spine they would tender an unconditional apology to Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor.
Mr Abdullah, who is the vice-president of National Conference (NC), was reacting to acquittal of Mr Tharoor by a Delhi court in the case of death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

“Guilt & innocence are established in a court of law not in a kangaroo court during prime time. If any of those self appointed “nation wants to know” types had half a spine they would tender an unconditional apology to Shashi,” the former chief minister wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014.
Tharoor was booked under section 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In 2019, Delhi police had asked the court to prosecute him for abetment to suicide or “alternatively” frame murder charges against him in connection with Pushkar’s death.
Expressing his gratitude to the court, 65-year-old Tharoor said he had a tough time in the last seven-and-a-half years.
