Elderly Man Injured In Bear Attack

Handwara, Aug 18 (GNS): A 58-year-old man was injured after he was attacked by a bear in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning.

An official told GNS that the man identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Ramzan Mir, a resident of Dodipora village in Handwara, was injured when he was attacked by the bear in an orchard in his native village.

The man, who suffered injuries on his face, was rushed to the district hospital Handwara for treatment.

Meanwhile, a team of the wildlife department has been rushed to the spot to trace the wild bear, the official added. (GNS)
