India moving Kabul ambassador, staff back immediately in view of deteriorating circumstances

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) India said on Tuesday that it is moving its ambassador in Kabul, Rudrendra Tandon, and the Indian staff at the Embassy there back to India immediately in view of the prevailing circumstances.

“In view of the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided that our Ambassador in Kabul and his Indian staff will move to India immediately,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

This follows the Taliban takeover of Kabul on Sunday that led to the deposing of the Ashraf Ghani government there, and the deteriorating security situation.
