Sarpanch from Kulgam, his wife shot dead in Anantnag

Anantnag, Aug 09 : Suspected militants on Monday afternoon shot dead a Sarpanch and his wife from Kulgam, presently living in Lal Chowk area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a Sarpanch namely Ghulam Rasool of Redwani Bala, who is affiliated with BJP snd his wife Jawhara Banoo were fire upon by suspected militants in Lal Chowk area of Anantnag.

He said the couple was shifted to GMC Anantnag for treatment. However, they succumbed to their injuries on way to the hospital, an official said.

He added that the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers—(KNO)
