Rahul Gandhi on two-day J&K visit from today

Srinagar, Aug 9 (UNI) Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is arriving here on Monday on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

He will be arriving at the Srinagar International Airport to a warm welcome by party leaders and workers this afternoon, Congress leaders said.

Mr Gandhi, on his first visit after the reading down of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, will stay at Nehru Guest House. Though he had led an Opposition delegation to the valley immediately after August 5, but was denied permission and sent back to Delhi from the airport itself.

He is expected to inaugurate a new Congress office in the city tomorrow before addressing the party leaders and workers.

On reports that Mr Gandhi will visit south Kashmir to attend a function of a senior Congress leader, they said there is no such proposal.
