Bear attack leaves 10 goats dead in North Kashmir’s Handwara

Handwara, Aug 6, KNT: A wild bear barged into a shed and killed at least 10 goats in North Kashmir’s Handwara town.

The incident occurred during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at Moshinar village of Qaziabad.

The owner of the live-stock, Ashiq Hussain Khan told news agency Kashmir News Trust that he lost at least 10 goats in a bear attack.

He said villagers had repeatedly sought help from the Wild Life Department to capture wild animals that roam freely in far-flung Handwara villages.

A Wild Life Department official said that efforts are on to capture the wild animals. He advised people living near forest areas to keep vigil while moving outside their homes. (KNT)
