India logs 34,703 new nCoV cases, 553 deaths

New Delhi, Jul 6 (UNI) India’s COVID tally surged to 3,06,19,932 after 34,703 new infections were reported in the last 24 hours, the lowest single-day rise in 111 days, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The death count rose to 4,03,281 with 553 new fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to a data shared by the Ministry.

There are 4,64,357 active cases at present while 51,864 people were discharged in the past 24 hours, pushing the overall recoveries to 2,97,52,294. India’s recovery rate presently stands at 97.17 per cent.

Meanwhile, weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 2.40 per cent.

Daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.11 per cent, less than three per cent for 15 consecutive days, the Ministry added.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 44,14,24,881 samples were tested so far for coronavirus, of which 16,47,424 were tested on Monday.

Meanwhile, 35,75,53,612 doses have been administered since January 16 this year, of which 45,82,246 were administered in the past 24 hours.
