Educational institutions likely to re-open after July 15

‘Teachers, students will be vaccinated before opening of schools, colleges: Director Health

Srinagar, July 2, : Government is likely to re-open educational institutions after July 15, well placed sources said.

Pertinently, educational institutions have already been closed till 15 July this month due to pandemic. If sources are to be believed, before 15 July Government is likely to make an announcement about re-opening of the schools, colleges and universities.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a decision about the re-opening of coaching centres is also on cards.

“There are bright chances that educational institutions may resume off line work. Let us see how things go,” an official from Education Department said on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has asked both Higher Education and School Education Directors to identify the locations where teaching, non-teaching staff and eligible students can be vaccinated before the re-opening of educational institutions.

Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Rather confirmed to KNT that they will start a vaccination drive for teaching, non-teaching staff and students before re-opening of schools and colleges.

“Re-opening of schools is prerogative of the government but yes, it is important to get teachers and students vaccinated to prevent potential resurgence of Covid-19 cases,” he said.

Director Health said that they have sought dates and requested Director Higher Education and School Education to identify the locations where vaccination camps will be set up for teachers and students. (KNT)
