COVID-19: India reports 37,566 new cases, 970 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi, Jun 29 (UNI) India reported 37,566 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 3,03,16,897, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

India reported less than 40 thousand daily COVID cases after 102 days.Besides, the country also saw 970 deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities to 3,97,637. The fatality rate stood at 1.31 per cent.

A total of 56,994 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,93,66,601. With these new recoveries, recovery rate jumped from 96.80 per cent to 96.87 per cent.

Now, active caseload further declined to 5,52,659, which is 1.82 per cent of total cases.

Meanwhile, weekly positivity rate remains below 5 per cent, currently at 2.74 per cent.

Daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.12 per cent, less than five per cent for 22 consecutive days, the Ministry added.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 40,81,39,287 samples were tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 17,68,008 were tested on Monday.

Meanwhile, 32,90,29,510 doses have been administered since January 16 this year, of which 52,76,457 were administered in the past 24 hours.
