Arms, Ammo Recovered During Searches in Poonch Village

Poonch, May 22: Arms and ammunition have been recovered during a cordon-and-search-operation in Qasba area along Line of Control in Poonch district in Jammu division on Saturday afternoon, official sources said.

They said that the searches carried out jointly by SOG and Army under the supervision of DySP ‘Operations’ Poonch Munish Sharma since this morning has led to the recovery of one each of AK-56 weapon, AK 56 Magazine, Pistol Magazine, two Chinese Pistols and thirty rounds of AK-56 ammunition.

SSP Poonch Dr Vinod Kumar had earlier confirmed to GNS about the searches being carried out in Qasba village and its peripheries ‘on receipt of inputs about suspicious movement witnessed in the area’.
Meanwhile the searches were still on in the area, on filing of this report.
