Covid-19 infected non-local labourers escape from rented accommodation

Pulwama, May 17,: At least 18 non-local labourers, among which 8 were tested Covid-19 positive escaped from a rented building in the middle of the night in Dadsara area of Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A couple of days ago, 8 labourers living in a rented building were tested positive for Covid-19 in Dadsara area. They were advised to quarantine themselves. However, during the intervening night of May 16 and 17, 18 labourers including the 8 infected ones escaped from the rented building.

“We had requested administration to quarantine these labourers at some designated government building, but our requests were ignored. We don’t know where these infected labourers are right now,” said a local Shabir Ahmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Another local said that district administration has been informed about the incident and they were told that Surveillance team has been activated to trace these labourers.

Tehsildar Dadsara Sajid Ahmed feigned ignorance about the incident, but said he will ascertain the facts. (KNT)
