Prominent BJP leader Syeeda Ladakhi loses battle to COVID-19 in Leh

Leh, May 11: Prominent woman leader and an active member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Ladakh region, Sayeeda Ladakhi died due to COVID-19 at Sonam Nabroo Memorial (SNM) Hospital in Leh after fighting the virus for a couple of days.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that Syeeda was admitted to SNM Hospital Leh, a couple of days ago, and her health condition started to deteriorate soon after being admitted there.
He said that she couldn’t respond to the treatment and passed away on Monday evening.
“She had tested positive for the virus last week and developed COVID-19 related severe symptoms,” he said.
The official said that she was also moved to the Intense Care Unit (ICU) of SNM hospital but could not withstand the treatment and passed away today.
Notably, Sayeeda was a former nominated member of LAHDC Leh and recently contested the 6th council elections from her home constituency Chuchot in Leh but could not secure the win.
Meanwhile, a handout issued to the KNO, BJP unit of Ladakh said that “Syeeda’s demise is a great loss for Ladakh and our Nation.”
