LAWDA conducts demolition drive in Lashkari Mohalla, Laam Brein

SRINAGAR, MAY 08: The Enforcement Wing of Lakes And Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) today launched a special demolition drive under the supervision of Enforcement Officer Abdul Aziz Qadri, in the area of Lashkari Mohalla NFR & Laam Brein.

During the drive, one double storey, two single storeys, three tin sheds, one room and bathroom raised in the green belt area taking undue advantage of the current lockdown (Covid-19) were onspot demolished by the demolition team of this wing

The demolition team was accompanied by the territorial Police of P/S Nishat/PCR Sgr and Ladies contingent who played vital role in the success of the demolition drive.

During the demolition drive some miscreants assembled at site and attacked the demolition team with bricks & lathis in which the side windows of the departmental JCB were damaged.  However, the demolition squad remained on forefront and managed to demolish several illegal structures and legal action was also initiated against the violators.

Moreover, after conducting demolition it was very difficult for the demolition team to leave the spot in which some squad members got minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the public residing within the LDA jurisdiction & inlake are hereby once again directed not to go for any sort of illegal constructions / encroachments, as the Enforcement wing will continue with demolition of illegal constructions/ removal of encroachments.
