Former J&K governor Jagmohan Malhotra passes away, PM,LG condoles demise

New Delhi, May 4 : Former Jammu and Kashmir governor Jagmohan Malhotra passed away here in the capital city after suffering from a brief illness.

He was 94.Prime Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the demise of former J&K governor on Twitter and wrote “Jagmohan Ji’s demise is a monumental loss for our nation.

 

He was an exemplary administrator and a renowned scholar. He always worked towards the betterment of India. His ministerial tenure was marked by innovative policy making. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Jagmohan served two terms as governor in Kashmir – from 1984 to 89, and then from January to May 1990.

UT LG condole demise of J&K ex-Governor Jagmohan

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha condoled the demise of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan Malhotra who breathed his last in New Delhi on Tuesday.

In a tweet Mr Sinha said, “My deepest condolences to his family, friends and admirers. May Almighty grant eternal peace to the departed soul”.

“Saddened to hear about the demise of Shri Jagmohan Ji, Former Governor of J&K. He was a great visionary, dynamic and effective administrator. Jagmohan Ji will be remembered for his great contributions, reforms in J&K and untiring efforts to serve the society”, he further tweeted.

Jagmohan served two terms as Jammu and Kashmir Governor from 1984 to 1989 an again from January to May in 1990.
