“Public Out Reach Programmes” envisaged by the Department to reach out to the farming community at their door steps: Director Agriculture Kashmir

Valley wide “Kharif Campaign 2021-22″kick started from Tanghdar Kupwara

Tanghdar/13-04-2021/ The Department in its endeavor to reach to the farming community who live in the farthest corners of the valley to give them a feeling that Department of Agriculture is always at their door steps kickstarted its Kharif Campaign from one of the remotest area of the Valley-Keran,Kupwara. In this backdrop, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal initiated a 02 days “Kharif Campaign 2021-22” from Tanghdar Kupwara today.
The campaign was started with the sowing of Maize in presence of farming community of village Bagh bela Tehsil Tanghdar.

While addressing the gathering of farmers Director highlighted the objectives of organizing outreach programs by way of Kharif campaign and said that such type of program aims at reaching out to the farmers to take appraisal for on ground assessment . He also appreciated the farmers participation in the program and urged upon the farmers to come forward and work in a coordinated manner with the Department for the overall development of the agriculture sector.

Director highlighted the need for a multi dimensional marketing strategy concept so that the produce of the farmer could be marketed in a very effective manner. He said the Department is planning a drive to organize special training programs for educated youths to adopt global trends in agriculture.

Chowdhary reiterated that farm mechanization plays a key role in sustaining agriculture growth for which the Department intends to promote mechanized way of farming for saving the time as well as labour which ultimately will not only help farmers in improving their socio economic conditions but also will help in increasing their farm income. He said that mechanized solutions will boost the overall development of agriculture sector.

Chowdhary directed Chief Agricuilture Officer Kupwara to prepare a special project for the up liftment of the agriculture sector in the district and on spot directions were passed for establishing custom hiring centres in Sub Division Tanghdar.

Joint Director Apiculture & Mushroom Farooq Ahmad Shah on the occasion emphasized on working out a roadmap for meeting out the requirements with regard to Vegetables ,pulses and other crops. He also requested the farmers to adopt various farmer friendly schemes such as mushroom and Apiculture being undertaken by the Department.

Besides a large gathering of farmers of Tanghdar and adjoining areas, District Development Councellor Najma Hameed, Block Development Chairperson Tanghdar Riyaz Ahmad Khwaja, Block Development Chairperson Teetwal Nishada Parveen, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom Farooq Ahmad Shah, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara Nazir Ahmad Wani, Potato Development Officer Kashmir Waheed-ur-Rehman, Divisional Seed Certification Officer Kashmir Mir Aijaz Hassan, Agriculture Information Officer Javed Ahmad Shah, District Agriculture Officer Kupwara Naseer Ahmad Khan, Chief Technical Officer Sheikh Farhan and other senior officers of the district and Sarpanch and panches were also present during the occasion.

On the directions of Director Agriculture Kashmir programmes of similar nature were organized throughout the valley wherein senior officers of the Department participated to make Kharif campaign 2021-22 launched by the department a success .
