PM to address rallies at Kharagpur in Paschim Medinipur district

Kolkata, Mar 20 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address rallies at Kharagpur in Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal on Saturday.

Mr Modi will attend a rally in Kharagpur. He is hopeful that the people in the states would elect the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the forthcoming elections.

While announcing his schedule for Saturday, the Prime Minister in his official Twitter handle said, “Will be in Assam and West Bengal tomorrow and the day after. Tomorrow, March 20, I would be speaking at rallies in Kharagpur (WB) and Chabua (Assam). Will elaborate on BJP’s development agenda during my speeches. It is clear both states want to elect NDA in the upcoming polls,” he said.

Earlier this week, the Prime Minister had addressed a rally in Purulia attacking the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Mr Modi accused the TMC supremo of “appeasement and vote bank politics”, and presiding over a corrupt administration.

He said her game will be over (khela shesh hobe) when votes for the assembly elections are counted on May 2.

Attempting to counter the TMC’s core poll plank of Bengali sub-nationalism, Mr Modi harped on the issue of national security and wondered whether the TMC supremo’s stand on the 2008 Batla House encounter and the Pulwama attack of 2019 was driven by her “politics of appeasement”.

Ms Banerjee had questioned the timing of the Pulwama attack which occurred ahead of the Lok Sabha election and described the Batla House encounter as fake.

Addressing an election rally in the tribal Jangalmahal region of the state, the Prime Minister alleged the ruling TMC never considered Dalits, backwards and Adivasis its own, and these sections were the worst victims of cut money culture and ‘Tolabaji’ (extortion) by the state’s ruling party.
