US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin to arrive in India today

 

 

New Delhi, Mar 19 :  US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will arrive here on Friday on a three-day visit to further strengthen India-US strategic ties.

During his visit, Mr Austin will meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.

According to sources, the Defence Secretary is expected to land in New Delhi at around 1600 hrs.

The Defence ministry had earlier said that both sides are expected to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and exchange views on regional security challenges and common interests in maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

Notably, this is the first in-person visit by an official of the US President Joe Biden’s administration to India.
