Armed man arrested outside US Vice President Kamala Harris’ official residence

Washington, Mar 18:  US law enforcement officers on Wednesday arrested an armed man near the official residence of the country’s Vice President Kamala Harris.

Authorities responded to a report of a suspicious person near the Naval Observatory, where the vice president’s residence is located, according to the DC Metropolitan Police Department, Fox News reported.

The suspect was identified “based on an intelligence bulletin,” officials said.

The suspect, who has been identified as Paul Murray, resident of San Antonio, Texas, was initially detained by the US Secret Service. Subsequently, Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department arrested him and charged under various laws.

Rifle and ammunition were also ‘recovered from his possession’.

The charges included: carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying a rifle or shotgun outside of a business, possession of unregistered ammunition, according to the police.
