Farmers’ protest enters 100th day; protesting farmers block KMP Expressway

New Delhi, Mar 6:  As the farmers’ protest against the Centre’s three new farm laws at Delhi’s

periphery entered the 100th day on Saturday, the protesting farmer unions are observing March 6

as ‘Black Day’.

The protesting farmers have also blocked the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, starting from 1100 hrs today and the Expressway will be blocked for five hours till 1600 hrs.

To mark the completion of hundred days, Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SMP) on Friday had announced that March 6 will be marked as a Black Day in addition to a 5-hour blockade of Kundli–Manesar–Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

The SMP had said that on Saturday, the farmers protesting against the new farm laws will block KMP Expressway for five hours, from 1100 hrs to 1600 hrs.

A total 11 rounds of talks between the Government and farmers’ unions have been held so far and no

consensus was reached, with both sides sticking to their positions.

The protest started on November 26. The farmers are demanding a complete rollback of the

new farm reform laws and a guarantee on the Minimum Support Price.

Thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab and Haryana, are staging a sit-in protest along the Delhi borders.
