Science Block of Degree College Dooru awaits completion as tussle between R&B, contractor affects construction.

Dooru,Feb,25:- Government Degree College Dooru of Anantnag district was established in 2005.The contract which was granted in favour of Executive agency R&B to construct Science block of Degree College Dooru but still building was completed. In 2019 DPR @ Eight crore Sixty three lacks was released for construction of science block.But in September 2020 R&B put four tenders but some unknown reasons all tenders were cancelled.In september 2020 tenders again released as work allotment to Awantipora contractor for construction of block then another contractor namely Roy Constructions owned by Subzar Ahmad Roy filed a rit petition  in District Court anantnag to halt constructional work.Subzar told they already have submitted documentation for contract but was sidelined and was responsed by R&B Deptt.that he was not eligible for such huge contracts and alloted work to another contractor hails from awantipora even earlier i also get contracts and work on them smoothly on personal basis they alloted other,i.e why i have approached Court for seeking justice subzar added;
As per sources 18 lacs were lapse during last year due to negligence of R&B department and suffered college students by interupting their studies.Sources said for 1600 students of all streams, only six rooms are available for students to get their education in College.
Lack of staff and infrastructure also in Government Degree College (GDC), Dooru is painting a grim picture of the education sector as the students continue to suffer while the authorities concerned are acting as mute spectators as they have failed to take any action in this regard.
The students and the staff told our correspondent that they are facing immense hardships due to lack of proper infrastructure and teaching staff.
“The educational institution was established in 2005 during the Congress-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir. At least 1600 boys and girls are currently enrolled in this College,” they said.
Both the students and the staff rue poor infrastructure including lack of space for holding classes. “Five years after the college was established, the College infrastructure is yet to be enhanced,” the employees in the college said.
While talking principle Govt. Degree College Sheikh Mehnaza told that in college Principal Cum Admin block,Library,Arts , Science blocks & BCA are functional in a single building. we conduct examinations of all streams in waiting shed and on building floor suffer students alot college principle madam added;
Chairman Shahabad Development Forum Zahoor Ahmad Malik said that the students from Dooru, Qazigund, Kapran, Verinag and Banihal are studying at the college but are facing inconvenience due to the lack of adequate facilities.
Malik appealed to the Lieutenant Governor J&K UT Manoj sinha to look into the matter and resolve the issue at an earliest.
Executive Engineer R&B division Qazigund Riyaz Ahmad told our correspondent  that keeping in view the scarcity of space in the college, the department had invited tenders for construction of two- story science block for which funds were also allocated but the papers of the contractor, in whose favour the work was allotted, were not found in the circle office as per the rules due to which the tender had to be cancelled.
However ,the contractor has now taken the matter to the court and case is pending in district Anantnag whenever court responsed a decision we will start work in an immediate time and we are waiting for court decision they added.
